LTS' Safeguarding App for Aston University

Aston University is ranked 18th out of all 113 UK Universities in the Guardian Good University Guide 2009, above many of the 20 Russell Group Universities, and is a high-quality choice for postgraduate study. In their safeguarding policy the University recognises that it has social, moral and legal responsibilities to protect and safeguard the welfare of students, young people and adults in vulnerable situations with whom its work brings it into contact.

Currently the University is conducting their safeguarding process manually and would like a technical off the shelf software solution to support them in safeguarding process. The University have chosen Lean Transition Solutions (LTS) as their technical solutions providers. LTS' has a great track record of implementing off the shelf solutions globally in public and private sectors.

LTS have proposed and designed a socially relevant application which can be used to report harassment, abuse and conflict at the work- place, universities or practically in any place where people exist. The application allows users to save and send details of the incident, report the details, take actions and alert authorities. Guidelines and safety measures are included in the app. The University will gain visibility to the status of on-going cases, via a timeline reporting.

The solution will help all staff and students to actively safeguard and promote the welfare of staff, students and visitors by being alert to the possibility that some may have suffered or be at risk of suffering significant harm and by reporting any concerns promptly.

The proposed solution will be a combination of iPhone and Android app for staff and students, and the authorities will be having a web app solution to manage overall activities. The solution will be highly secured and compliant with GDPR policies. The solution will be expected to go live by the end of this September.
